Trendy and Modest – IFDC Designers Hit the Perfect Combination

Islamic FashionIf you feel that dressing modestly may sometimes be a challenge, fear not … a group of designers decimated this difficulty for Islamic Fashion and Design Council’s (IFDC) exhibit and showcase at the recent 2015 International Textile Fair. IFDC presented ensembles from a number of designers, including Hafsa Lodi, Chenille and Miella in the Modest Trends area, as well as in the IFDC exhibit at the 2015 ITF recently in Dubai. These were just part of the line-up of global designers who presented Islamic fashion (iFash™) pieces, each with their own signature style leading to an incredibly diverse showcase. Hafsa Lodi’s designs took a fresh twist on modest pieces and abayas, with denim and pearl embellishments combined with textured cottons to create youthful summer ensembles. Chenille’s quirky original prints, arty fabrics and versatile reversible capes drew a lot of admirers. Both designers managed to present pieces that, despite offering comfort and modesty, retained a fun and funky style, each in their own unique way. “Each of our designers’ pieces were unique and contributed to a wide range of iFash looks,” said IFDC Chairwoman Alia Khan. “The pieces from Hafsa Lodi and Chenille’s collection highlight how iFash™ can be really trendy, creative and fun while still maintaining modesty.” As a collaborating partner to ITF 2015, IFDC also presented an array of Islamic art pieces. Works from Tauseef Al-Mulla and Alem Goshime utilised Arabic calligraphy fused with an array of colours. “IFDC’s booth was awash with vibrant colour and creativity, and it was wonderful to see such a complimentary visual-partnership between the art and fashion on display,” said Khan. “The promotion of Islamic art, fashion, design, architecture and interiors all fall within IFDC’s mandate and we were pleased to have provided such a well-attended platform to promote these talented designers and artists. We look forward to continuing to break the mold of creativity when it comes to showcasing the immense talent in this field, and have numerous events coming up where IFDC will be presenting the finest Islamic design talent in the upcoming months.” IFDC’s complement of designers and artists for ITF also included Annada, Dorotea P London, Stephanie Jaye, Kashka, Hafsa Lodi, Pret-A-Prier, Beena Samuel and Diyali Sen Bhalla.
