Mismatch your shoes, to start.
Phoebe Philo presented her spring/summer 2017 collection for Céline in Paris on Sunday and you could see the delight spread across editors’ and buyers’ faces the minute the first look—a boxy black blazer and flared, cropped, paper-thin leather pants—hit the runway. This was another hit for Philo, with some strong styling ideas throughout. Here, some style lessons from the school of Céline.
1. You don’t have to be a superhero…
…to wear a cape
2. If you can layer sweaters…
…why not layer pants?
Many of Philo’s signature boxy cropped trousers were worn over flowing chiffon printed pants, lending an easy softness to an otherwise more severe silhouette.
3. Supersize your bag
(Like, really supersize it)
Philo always designs with a real woman in mind—one who is busy and always on the go. These exaggerated bag shapes seem like a nod to those of us (raises hand) who are always schlepping everything (laptop, gym clothes, phone, charger, life) everywhere.
4. Who says your shoes…
have to match?
Perhaps the most remarked upon styling choice from the show was the mismatched shoes. Would they be sold together? Separately? We’ll find out and report back!
