Mercedes Benz Istanbul Fashion Week March 2015

Islamic Fashion Once again, Fashion Week is in town, and the local scene rubs shoulders with international buyers and media while Turkey’s up and coming and the well-established present their collections for Fall / Winter 2015. We took a dip in the fashion pool on Monday to scoop up some fresh impressions for you. Here’s what we brought back from Antrepo 7: Ece Gözen, a popular fixture in the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Istanbul since her debut in 2013, continues to pursue her signature style of luxurious sportswear. Extremely wearable, but not many surprises there. Among the fresh talents this year is Salih Balta, a young fashion designer who earned his merits working for internationally renowned designer Hakan Yıldırım since 2009. For his collection, dominated by black, vermillion, and shades of indigo blue, he drew inspiration from symbols like the lotus flower and the cobra snake. Used as embellishment on ultra-simple dresses and skirts, or as the very material of lacy tops they brought a hint of 60s playfulness to the otherwise very minimal and serious pieces layered with leather and fur coats.
