3 NYFW Beauty Trends You Can Actually Wear in Real Life

By Frankie Rozwadowska

New York Fashion Week beauty wasn’t all about mad makeup and crazy hair ‘dos. In fact, the Spring/Summer 2017 shows provided some serious beauty inspiration in the form of three trends that are actually wearable in real life. Promise. Read on to discover the trends and how you can easily take them from runway to reality.

1 Cool Color

From bold lips to eyes lined with hot hues, pastel shadows, and fluoro flecks, there are no limits as far as SS17 color is concerned. Add a subtle wash of pastel purple to your peepers à laJeremy Scott or opt for a slick of bright block colors to (literally) liven up your beauty look, like the turquoise-lined eyes at Christian Siriano. The appeal of this trend is that you can add just a hint of color or go for the full-blown bright look, depending on the outfit or occasion. Sometimes, all it takes is a pop of color on your pout – as seen at Jason Wu, Creatures of the Wind, and Cushnie Et Ochs  to do the trick. From your eyes to your lips, your blush to your nails, it’s time to go crazy for color.

2 Au Naturel

Arguably the biggest beauty trend of the Spring/Summer 2017 NYFW shows, the “no makeup makeup” look is back and more minimal than ever before. At shows like Alexander WangTommy HilfigerRodarte, and Zac Posen, the only rule when it came to makeup was clearly “less is more”. Skin was only touched up if necessary, a hint of blush appeared here and there, and brows were kept bushy and brushed only when needed. The perfect trend to inspire your everyday makeup, it can be executed by switching out your heavy foundation for a lightweight BB cream or tinted moisturizer, using just a touch of bronzer or blush if your skin is lacking warmth, and bravely leaving your lashes alone. It’s time to let your natural beauty shine through.
